Getting to Know Me!

We did a call to action looking for dedicated Internship USA and Career Training USA participants from around the world who wanted to capture their upcoming U.S. experience and share it with the rest of us. Through pictures, video and text, these bloggers will share their story - from the day they arrive in the U.S. to the end of their internship or training program. We hope you enjoy following along!

My name is Jesus Gabriel and I am from southwest Mexico. For the last few months, I've been having the best time of my exchange experience! I have been getting new experiences from my first job position/phase as an off-seasson group coordinator and also from getting exposed to American local culture!

I was born in Oaxaca state, seven hours from Mexico City. Oaxaca is a multicultural state full of diversity and I am a very small individual part of that southwestern culture... now working and learning from professionals in the United States of America!

My host organization is Camp Echo and it is located near Hudson Valley - about 90 minutes from New York City.  This is one of the things I really love about my host organization. I do love all the good surroundings like nature, moutains and lakes, all the attractions in NYC and small towns around.

Camp Echo is a well organized place, from support staff to director and owners.  Learning from the best is the reason for me to be in this program. Of course they have a huge radius of clients, vendors and connections that I want to learn how to manage too.

I am blogging because being in an exchange experience in a foreign country is a set of efforts and professional strategies with my directors, CIEE and me. These strategies will bring me professional growth and will help me to reinforce my English and communcation skills. Being in American culture, learning from professional workers and making new friends is something I want more peope to try, and if my experience and blogging help I will be glad to do so!

MORE SPECIFICALLY  what I want to share is my experience with local culture. Since I am a music lover I spend my time at concerts, festivals and local music stores. I also love having contact with nature whether riding DownHill MTB, surfing the ocean or hiking nice mountains.

Make sure to check the Exchanges Blog regularly to read more about Jesus' experience!
