Pre-departure Thoughts : )
Hello, hallo, how has your day been going? Or, how has your week been? Or, how has your month been? I really hope it has been going well, seriously. My month has been going pretty well. I am leaving soon for the 2023-2024 CBYX program! Honestly, it is crazy thinking about how before I used to be so relaxed and excited to go when I would say “Oh I’m leaving in two months,” and “Oh I’m leaving in one month.” However, now that I say, “Oh… I’m leaving next week,” my emotions have changed to nervousness and sadness. The reality that I am leaving my beautiful and sweaty hot city of Tucson, has got me gripped with emotions. Even though these emotions have made me feel as though I want to stay. I remember the excitement that I have in me to learn about integrating into a new culture and the new encounters I meet. If it is thinking about new people or experiences, it gives me the excitement of finally being close to starting my new life abroad. Not to mention having the opportunity to learn a new language. That is why I have been trying to prepare by learning about German grammar. Which is interesting even though I do not like much about English grammar. It is pretty funny how I have been doing stuff that I would have never imagined before applying for the program. Whenever my family and I would pack for a trip, I would usually wait till the last second. However, because of the excitement I have been starting to pack two weeks earlier. In contrast, to my excitement with packing, I have been experiencing sadness for leaving my friends and family. Especially my monsters. I will miss it when my sister looks at me and gives me a side eye to annoy me. Regarding my friends, I literally cannot find the words to express the emptiness that my heart will have to bear with. But I know that my family and friends support me, which gives me a warm blanket to comfort me during my lows.
Oh, and not to forget I will definitely miss our beautiful
sunsets and my big fat dog named Galileo like the
astronomer.
