Views for Days
We've had a jam packed week of beautiful calas (coves) and white sand beaches. Wednesday we travelled to the northeast of the island to the Parc Natural de Llevant, where the director of the park, Cristian Ruiz Altaba, gave us a personal guided hike through the park to the other side where we found a beautiful cove. On our hike Cristian told us about some of the plants native to Mallorca and we even caught a visiting butterfly who came all the way from Argentina, the paysandisia archon.
The contrast between the rocky cliffs of Llevant and the turquoise waters of the Mediterranean are views worth waking up to everyday. After our hike down the mountain we settled into a nice little cove to snorkel and have lunch, followed by some more marine work with Bea. Then came time to hike back up the mountain, on one of the hottest days of summer. But our global navigators were up for the challenge and made it back up in no time.
Thursday we headed over to Colonia Sant Jordi in the south to walk over to Es Carbo beach. There we did our civic duty by picking up microplastics among other things to keep this white sand beach looking pristine. And of course we also enjoyed a swim in the sea. Our global navigators have all turned into sun kissed beach babies and we've still got so much more to see. Can't wait to see what this coming week has in store for us, hopefully cooler temperatures are on the list!
