The Prague Castle is the main event of Prague. We were able to finally see the castle up close last week. We were provided a tour of the outside garden and the chapel along with the outside of the political offices. We were able to see the outside president’s office which was surprising to me of how close you can get to a place like that. You could also see the communists’ imprints on some of the buildings as they left symbols in the art.

When we went into the chapel, I was surprised at how tall the inside was. The architecture and the height were absolutely mind blowing.

There was a German architect named Peter Parler who was responsible for creating the St.Vitus Cathedral in the Prague Castle compound and the famous Charles bridge in Prague as well. He was 23 when he took over the construction of the Prague tower which amazes me how young he was when he created a masterpiece.

The sculptures and altars that lie in the cathedral are really something to see in person. Photos do the architecture, stained glass, and altars no justice. The cathedral is a gothic structure that hosts the tombs of Bohemian kings and Holy Roman Emperors.

The most famous room and experience in the cathedral is the chapel of St. Wenceslas, which holds the tomb of St.Wenceslas and many paintings of him and some of Christ. The room is a warming red tone and full of wall paintings. There is a 7 locked door that holds the Czech Crown Jewels, which are only seen in the public every 8 years.
