Today's afternoon activity was a trip to the Prague Zoo! Prague's zoo has come out near the top of various ratings in the past few years, including those of Forbes and New York Times. Today, we found out why!

A few highlights were the polar bears, the komodo dragons and the tigers. Students were impressed by the sprawling enclosures for animals like giraffes and elephants. In the "Indonesian Jungle" exhibit, we entered a twilight-lit area where we could observe bush babies and sugar gliders as fruit bats flew freely over our heads.

We happened to visit during a year full of baby animals and were able to see a young gorilla and a baby aardvark, among others. Our guide for the outing was CIEE local staff member "TV," who is passionate about animals and full of knowledge about each of the zoo's inhabitants. She helped students understand the zoo's history and its future plans, and her excitement was contagious.

The zoo offered views not only of wildlife, but also of the city from a different perspective. Students stopped at a lookout point to take photos of Prague castle from a brand new angle. As a whole, the outing provided countless chances to practice their photography and plenty of fun to boot!
