Getting started in Pisac, Peru
The students have been introduced to their host families for their stay here in Pisac. Tuesday was the first day of classes and they have been busy getting settled into the routine. Tuesday’s culture activity was a walking tour of Pisac to acquaint everyone with the locations of important places and the homes where all the students were staying. Of special interest was seeing the field where women and children were husking dried corn off of the cobs - none of us has ever seen anything like that! The marketplace was also an interesting spot. People are bustling about and the students were introduced to the bright colors and crafts of Peru. Ceci treated us to empanadas made in a very old fire oven - the gentleman explained how old it was and that it had been part of an old hacienda located here. The mountains here are gorgeous and the vistas are incredible. Most of us now have acclimatized to the altitude with little or no problems.
