¡Bienvenidos a Mérida!
We are so sorry for the delay on this post! A lot has happened since we started our travels at the Houston airport. Our flight was nice and sweet and upon arrival, we also met our host families that same evening!
Day one consisted of some amazing and important information to make sure all kids feel comfortable, safe and welcome.
Both Langauge and Culture and Service and learning went on a tour through the United States of America Consulate General Merida and it was too cool! (We were not allowed to take any pictures due to it being a goverment site). We learned about situations such as "what to do if you get in trouble to what to do if you lose your passport!" (We all agreed we will NOT be losing our passports duirng this trip).
Later in the day we had a absolutely delicious Yucatecan meal/museum tour. We were treated with a 3 course meal: Sopa de Lima, Tostadas (variety of Yucatecan meats), and some Flan!!! Students also tried aguas frescas of Jamaica, Horchata, and Chaya. Needless to say, we were all ready for bed after all that food!
