Art is Everywhere
On Wednesday we spent the morning with two local artists who took us on a street art tour of the Malasaña neighborhood and then lead a graffiti workshop.
Once everyone was finished spray painting their poster, bag and t-shirt we headed to El Retiro Park for a picnic and some drawing exercises.
We finished off our afternoon at the park with a spin around the lake.
On our way back to the dorms we stopped to celebrate Karen's birthday with an ice cream and enjoyed watching a salsa dancing flashmob. You never know what surprises you will find in Madrid!
Today we had a special artistic tour of the Teatro Real, Madrid’s opera house. Our guide gave us a glimpse of where the actors and musicians practice, how the costume department works, how the stage is set up, etc. We even got to see some of the singers and musicians rehearsing for upcoming shows!
After refueling with some pastries at a nearby cafe, we visited the Catedral de la Almudena and the Palacio Royal.
In the afternoon each student ventured off on their own to see an exhibit of their choice that they will later present about in class.
Now it is time to pack our bags for our trip to Valencia this weekend!
