CIEE Global Citizen Grant

The Global Citizen Grant is a monetary award of $5,000 designed to help high school students participate in a life changing CIEE High School Semester Abroad or Gap Year Abroad.

Any teacher or administrator at an eligible high school can nominate a student. Eligible high schools include those that received a grant award at the 2026 CIEE High School Study Abroad Conference. If you're unsure if you're eligible for this grant, please email your CIEE contact or hsabroad@ciee.org.

You can nominate any of your students, past or present, as long as they meet the eligibility requirements for a High School Semester Abroad or Gap Year Abroad program. They also need to be excited about studying abroad and eager to see the world! Talk to the students you have in mind before nominating them to make sure they are on board and available to travel during Fall 2027 or Spring 2028 and that they meet the eligibility requirements for a High School Semester Abroad or Gap Year Abroad program. Once nominated, it’ll be the student’s responsibility to complete a CIEE application. The grant will be automatically applied to the cost of their program.

Nominations are completed via the form below. Simply fill out the form for the student you wish to nominate and CIEE will be in touch.

The $5,000 grant is applicable to CIEE's Fall 2027 or Spring 2028 High School Semester Abroad or Gap Year Abroad programs in any location.

Nominations are limited to one per school.
